A husband has the right to marry more than one wife, up to four women, provided he has the physical and financial capability. His wife has the right to request a separate home if he wishes to marry another woman and live in the same house. If a man desires to marry another woman (especially if the first wife is infertile) and the wife refuses to live with the second wife, requesting a separate home, and he is unable to provide it, then there is no legal blame or sin upon him if he divorces her. However, it is preferable to advise her and try to persuade her to maintain the marital bond.
