Is the value of the dowry what the wife pays for the khulʿ, or does the husband determine the value of the khulʿ amount?

Spouses must be wise to avoid problems that lead to separation and family disintegration, remembering the words of Allah Almighty: "And do not forget the favor between you." The children erred by assaulting the driver without a legitimate reason, and by their father's command to abandon their mother, which is a form of disobedience. The husband is not allowed to abandon his wife unless she disobeys, and then only with specific legitimate controls. It is preferable to strive for reconciliation, but if it is not possible and the wife chooses separation, it is better for the husband to divorce her without compensation. If he wants compensation, it should be by mutual agreement, knowing that some jurists have recommended that he not take more from her than he gave her, and some have held that it is not permissible for him to take compensation if he is the one who harmed her.
