Stoning is the punishment for the married fornicator, and one hundred lashes for the unmarried fornicator. The fornication that necessitates the prescribed punishment (Hadd) is sexual intercourse. As for its preliminaries, such as gazing and touching, these are metaphorical forms of fornication that do not necessitate flogging or stoning. It is more befitting for the person who repents to conceal himself, be sincere in his repentance, and increase in good deeds.
