Is it true that there are seven verses in the Qur’an for protection, and that whoever recites them to someone, they are bound to meet again after separation? And what is the ruling on saying the verse “For Allah is the best guardian,” and responding to it with: “And He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy”?

There is no specific designation in Islamic law for certain verses as "Ayat al-Hifz" (verses of preservation). What is generally mentioned in this regard concerning the special properties of some verses is based on the experiences of the righteous. Similarly, the saying, "For Allah is the best Preserver," and the reply, "And He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy," upon bidding farewell, has not been transmitted in Islamic law.
