Is jurisprudence (fiqh) more meritorious than reading and listening to the Quran?

If the question is about preferring between reading the Qur'an or listening to it without understanding its meanings, and engaging in its exegesis, then the better option is that which aids in reflecting upon the Qur'an and being affected by it, such as reading books of exegesis. This is because understanding the Qur'an is better and more beneficial than merely reciting or listening to it without comprehension. Indeed, Allah revealed the Qur'an for its verses to be pondered over and for remembrance to be attained through them. Allah Almighty said: " [This is] a Book which We have sent down to you, full of blessing, that they may ponder over its verses, and that those of understanding may remember."
