What is the ruling on imitating disbelievers in minor sins, such as music? And does that lead to disbelief?

Imitating disbelievers in minor sins is forbidden, but it does not render the doer an infidel. However, a Muslim must beware of all sins, minor and major, for Allah Almighty says: "And the record [of deeds] will be placed [then] you will see the criminals fearful of what is therein, and they will say, 'Oh, woe to us! What is this book that leaves nothing small or great except that it has enumerated it?' And they will find what they did present [before them]. And your Lord does not wrong anyone." A Muslim should emulate the righteous. We also note that some scholars have considered the use of musical instruments and listening to music to be major sins.
