Should the wife initiate contact with her absent husband, who has not communicated with her for five months after her return to her home country by agreement with him, or should she wait for his call, especially given that her family insists on her seeking a divorce, and she fears displeasing Allah by doing so?

Among the objectives of marriage is the fostering of affection between the spouses. For this affection to endure, both parties must exercise patience, tolerance, and be aware of their rights. The husband is obligated to provide for the family, and it is commendable for the wife to assist him if she is well-off, as Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her, did with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Communication between spouses is praiseworthy and indicative of a good relationship. The assertion that divorce occurs automatically after six months of the husband's lack of communication has no basis in Islamic law. Interference from family members that damages the marital relationship is a sin and falls under the ruling of takhbib (inciting a wife against her husband), which is forbidden in Islam.
