Is it permissible to read and use the mentioned books for their healing properties?

One should avoid perusing books that contain supplications (adhkar) that are not authenticated, or for which there is no known origin, or that teach magic, because magic is among the forbidden acts and major sins. The reliable books of trustworthy scholars are sufficient, among them the book "Towards a Sharia Encyclopedia on Ruqya Science" by Abu al-Baraa Usamah bin Yasin al-Ma'ani, and the book "Fortress of the Muslim" by al-Qahtani, who also has another concise book on lawful ruqya.
