Is it permissible to divorce the second wife and return to the first, while continuing to financially support the divorced second wife, due to the husband's dislike for the second wife and his desire to return to the first wife who possesses virtuous character, especially since his circumstances do not allow for having both wives simultaneously?

It is permissible to take back the first wife if she is still within her 'iddah (waiting period), or to marry her again with a new contract after her 'iddah has expired, unless the divorce was an irrevocable major divorce (baynunah kubra). In that case, it is not permissible to marry her again until she marries another man willingly and he then divorces her. It is preferable to take back the first wife to unite the family. It is not advisable to separate from the second wife; rather, one should be patient with her and live with both of them, while being just between them in terms of overnight stays and financial support. If it becomes impossible to live with both due to financial hardship and the second wife's bad character, then divorcing her is permissible, while it is obligatory to spend on her during her 'iddah and to spend on your daughter from her. It is not permissible to accuse anyone of magic or similar things without clear evidence.
