Marriage is not originally obligatory, and it is permissible to refuse it for a reason, such as studying, or even without a reason. However, if a Muslim man or woman fears falling into immorality, then marriage becomes obligatory for them, and it is forbidden for them to refuse it for the sake of studying. Studying is not an impediment to marriage; rather, marriage may be more beneficial for it, as it provides tranquility, affection, and comfort. Marriage is a blessing. Allah Almighty says: "And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought." (Ar-Rum: 21). Therefore, delaying marriage due to studies is not recommended.
