Is wearing an iron ring forbidden for men?

The most preponderant opinion is that it is permissible to wear an iron ring, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying to the suitor: "Seek something, even if it is a ring of iron." This is also supported by the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) own practice, as his ring was made of iron plated with silver. As for the hadith (definition) of Buraydah regarding the prohibition of an iron ring, its chain of narration contains weakness. Wearing a silver ring is preferable because the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) ring was made of silver.
