Is the restaurant owner held accountable for the mistakes of employees such as the chef or waiter, such as selling spoiled food without his knowledge, and would the income from this food be lawful?

Allah Almighty says: "And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another." The principle is that the restaurant owner is not held accountable for the actions of his employees as long as he does not approve of them. Since he had instructed the workers not to sell spoiled food, and the chef sold it without his knowledge, there is no sin upon him in that, Allah willing. However, he must pay the buyers the difference in value between the fresh food and the spoiled food. If he cannot inform them or reach them, then he should donate the difference in value on their behalf as charity.
