Is it permissible to say: "This is a matter that time has eaten and drunk upon," given the prohibition of reviling time in the Hadith Qudsi: "Son of Adam wrongs Me by reviling time, for I am time..."?

The saying "Time has eaten and drunk upon him" (أكل الدهر عليه وشرب) contains no harm and is not a denigration of time. Rather, it is a proverb used by Arabs to describe something ancient or someone who has lived a long life, as stated in "Al-Lubab fi Qawa'id al-Lughah." This meaning has appeared frequently in Arabic poetry, such as in the words of Al-Nabighah al-Ja'di: "You asked me about people who perished... Time drank upon them and ate."
