How accurate is the statement that our master Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, did not attend any of the battles and did not fight even once?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

We have not found a specific battle in which Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) participated in jihad, but this does not preclude his involvement in jihad. Ahmad and others narrated from Abu Hurairah his saying: "I did not witness with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) any spoils of war except that a share was allotted to me, except on the Day of Khaybar; for it was exclusively for the people of Hudaybiyah." Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) also said in Al-Bidayah wan-Nihayah: "And I used to raid with him," which indicates his participation in the غزوات (expeditions). The doors of goodness and righteousness are many and varied, and the Companions differed in them. Some excelled in jihad, some in knowledge, some in generosity, and some in multiple aspects. This diversity was necessitated by the wisdom of Allah the Almighty.
