A student of knowledge must progress gradually and maintain balance between the sciences, and should soften their heart with edifying narratives. A suggested curriculum for the early stages includes: Aqidah (Dr. Umar al-Ashqar's series), Fiqh (Al-Mulakhkhas al-Fiqhi), Tafsir (Zubdat al-Tafsir or Tayseer al-Kareem al-Rahman or Mukhtasar Tafsir Ibn Kathir), Hadith (Al-Arba'in al-Nawawiyyah, Umdat al-Ahkam, Riyad al-Salihin), Sirah (Nur al-Yaqin or Al-Raheeq Al-Makhtum), Nahw (grammar) (Al-Tuhfah al-Saniyyah), Usul al-Fiqh (Al-Wadih), Mustalah al-Hadith (Sharh al-Bayquniyyah by Ibn Uthaymeen), etiquette of the student of knowledge (Hilyat Talib al-Ilm), and edifying narratives (Mukhtasar Minhaj al-Qasidin, Al-Daa' wa al-Dawaa'). Hadith memorization is achieved through extensive reading and repetition.
