What is the ruling on a judge's divorce in court?

The fundamental principle is that divorce is in the hands of the husband. However, it is permissible for the judge to divorce on behalf of the husband to remove harm from the wife, such as in cases of īlāʾ (a vow of abstinence from one's wife) or financial insolvency regarding maintenance. The judge's divorce is effective and irrevocable (bāʾin), except for divorce on account of mūlī (one who has made an īlāʾ vow) and one who is financially insolvent regarding maintenance, which some scholars consider revocable (rajʿī). The judge's divorce only takes effect if it is a final ruling.
