Who among the early Sunni scholars said that the speech of Allah, Exalted and Glorified is He, is sound and letter?

The speech of Allah is with letters and sound, as indicated by the verses and hadiths, because calling, conversing, and listening can only occur with sound. If Allah describes Himself with an attribute understood by the Arabs, and does not clarify that it is contrary to what they comprehend, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, did not explain it in a way that contradicts its apparent meaning, then it is understood according to their comprehension. The imams have unanimously agreed that the speech of Allah is with letters and sound, and none of the predecessors said otherwise. Whoever claims otherwise is required to provide proof.
