Is it permissible to give zakat to relatives and acquaintances who are earning an income, given the high cost of living and the insufficiency of salaries, or should it be given to charitable organizations, knowing that I do not know any poor people in the sense of not owning money?

Zakat is disbursed only to the eight categories mentioned in the Holy Quran. It is given to the needy person who cannot find enough for himself and those he supports, whether he is employed or not, and regardless of high or low prices. Giving Zakat to needy relatives is more meritorious, as it is both charity and the upholding of kinship ties. As for someone who is not in need, they should not be given Zakat.
