Is a person considered an infidel if he commits an evil act – in response to satanic whispers – with the intention of harming the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, and what are the conditions for repentance that would take him out of the circle of infidelity and back into Islam? And must he avoid situations that could lead to the recurrence of these whispers, such as speaking to or looking at women?

The door of repentance is always open, and the questioner must avoid looking at women from whom there is a fear of temptation. It seems that the questioner is afflicted with waswas (obsessive whispering), and he must ignore it and not succumb to it, for one who is compulsively obsessive is not held accountable for what he is overwhelmed by. The questioner should perform ruqyah shar'iyyah (Islamic exorcism) upon himself, consult specialists in mental illnesses, and avoid being alone.
