My son died in the ninth month [of pregnancy]. Will he intercede for me?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Allah rewards the parents for the calamity of losing their child and strengthens them with patience. It has been established that whoever loses a child and then praises Allah and says, "To Allah we belong and to Him is our return," Allah builds for him a house in Paradise called "the House of Praise." If the fetus dies after the soul is breathed into it (after four months), it will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment. It has been narrated that a miscarriage will intercede for its parents if they seek Allah's reward for it, as stated in the Hadith: "Indeed, a miscarried fetus will drag its mother by its umbilical cord into Paradise if she sought Allah's reward for it." A child who dies in the ninth month is more akin to being a child than a miscarriage in the linguistic sense, as a miscarriage is what falls before its creation is complete. Some scholars have mentioned that a miscarriage will intercede for its parents, and that the death of one child is a shield from the Fire.
