Is it permissible to eat turkey?

The basic principle concerning foods and drinks is permissibility until proven otherwise by evidence of prohibition. The Almighty's saying, "It is He who created for you all of that which is on the earth," indicates this. Moreover, what Allah has made lawful is lawful, what He has made unlawful is unlawful, and what He has kept silent about is pardoned. Based on this, eating turkey is permissible, and this is supported by the fact that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to eat chicken.
