If a wife seeks khulʿ, is she permitted to marry another man immediately, or must she wait? And is it permissible for the spouses to return to each other after khulʿ?

If the woman seeking divorce (khul') is pregnant, her 'iddah (waiting period) is until she gives birth, by scholarly consensus. However, if she is not pregnant, most scholars are of the opinion that her 'iddah is three menstrual cycles. Others hold the view that her 'iddah is one menstrual cycle, which is what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded the wife of Thabit ibn Qays. There is no objection to them remarrying with a new contract.
