What is the ruling on one who believes in the idea of the subconscious mind, and does this put him outside the fold of Islam, or is he considered a sinner?

Do not directly issue Sharia rulings on general terms without elaboration. The term "human development" is a comprehensive science, studied in universities and research centers, of concern to nations, and on which Islamic writings have appeared. As for the term "subconscious" or "unconscious," it has two possibilities:

1. A concept in psychology referring to a storehouse of thoughts and feelings. If one intends it in this sense, there is no harm, provided its applications are rationally and legally acceptable.

2. An esoteric philosophical concept for communicating with "cosmic consciousness" and deriving unseen knowledge, which is a gateway to intellectual corruption and deviation in beliefs.

Furthermore, some applications of "neurolinguistic programming" and "the law of attraction" are marred by unsubstantiated ventures, neither scientifically nor legally proven, such as curing bad manners in a single session or changing things without working through causes.
