ما الفرق بين رجس ورجز؟

There is a disagreement regarding the meanings of rijz (الرجز) and rijs (الرجس). Some say they have the same meaning, which is torment (adhab). Others say that rijz (with a 'zay') means torment, while rijs (with a 'sin') refers to all impurity, as in His (Allah's) saying: "So it increased them in rijs to their rijs" (Quran 9:125), meaning foulness upon their foulness. And some say they have the same meaning, like sadgh and zadgh.
