It is not obligatory to mention the defects of the fiancée that would tarnish her reputation and the reputation of her family. It is permissible for the guardian to conceal her defects, because marriage is built on honorable conduct and for the purpose of covering her faults. If her guardian is consulted, it is better for him to tell the suitor: "She is not suitable for you," or "There is no good for you in marrying her," in order to cover her faults and deter the suitor from her.
