What should I do to atone for the sin of beating and expelling my maid, whom I wronged, knowing that I am remorseful and fear the supplication of the wronged?
The employee is entrusted with what is under their hand and must preserve it. They are liable if they damage anything due to negligence. As for hitting her, it is not permissible; it is an injustice. You have done well by regretting your action, and let this regret be a sincere repentance fulfilling all conditions. If you have sought her forgiveness and she has forgiven you, then the matter is concluded. It is advisable to give her some money as a gift, for kindness removes resentment. If she were to supplicate against you after forgiving you, we hope that her supplication would not be answered, because she would have supplicated with sin.
