What is the ruling on puff collars, and are they considered hair extensions?

Puffy headbands and combs that enlarge the head, known as "hair puffing" or "hair stuffing," are forbidden. This falls under the category of hair extensions, the doer of which is cursed, as it was reported from Mu'awiya that the Prophet, may Allah's prayers and peace be upon him, called hair extensions "falsehood." This includes increasing hair volume with rags and anything that adds to its size, making it resemble the humps of swaying camels. This is due to the severe warning mentioned in the prophetic tradition against women whose heads resemble the humps of swaying camels. Al-Nawawi and Al-Qurtubi explicitly stated that the intent is to enlarge and magnify the head by wrapping a turban, a headband, or anything that increases hair volume. As for ribbons that do not enlarge the head and are used to style hair, some scholars see no harm in them, but it is preferable to avoid them to steer clear of scholarly disagreement. It is forbidden to use any ribbons or clips that have images of animals or musical instruments.
