What is the ruling on one who believes that ghusl al-janabah removes both major and minor ritual impurity, and then learns of the permissibility of confining it to the removal of major ritual impurity?

What he intended or believed does not affect the validity of a person's ghusl (ritual bath), as long as he intends by his ghusl to remove major ritual impurity (al-hadath al-akbar). This remains true even if he also intended to remove minor ritual impurity (al-hadath al-asghar), because intending to remove both impurities or to remove only the major impurity by ghusl is sufficient and valid.
