What is the nature of the shade with which Allah Almighty shades His believing servants on a Day when there is no shade but His, and what is the connection between the Hadith, "Seven whom Allah will shade...," and the supplication, "O Allah, shade us beneath the shade of Your Throne"?

The preponderant view is that "the shade of the Throne" is what is meant by the Prophetic Hadith: "Seven will Allah shade in His shade," and that is due to what has been narrated in other accounts, and because this interpretation aligns with the context which indicates the distinctiveness of those possessing these qualities on the Day of Resurrection. As for the supplication: "O Allah, shade us beneath the shade of Your Throne on a Day when there is no shade but Your shade," it has not been authentically reported in the Sunnah that it is specifically recited during ablution or circumambulation. However, it is considered among the good and legitimate supplications through which a Muslim humbles himself to ask Allah to include him in His favor and gather him with those whom He shades beneath His Throne.
