We narrate to you the story of the king's boy whom the king wanted to teach magic. However, the boy followed a monk who believed in God Almighty and learned from him, so he began to heal people by God's permission. When the king learned of his matter, he tortured him, the monk, and his companion until he killed them. Then he tried to kill the boy repeatedly, but God saved him, until the boy showed the king a way to kill him: by gathering the people, crucifying him, then shooting an arrow at him and saying: "In the name of Allah, the Lord of the boy." The king did that, and the boy died, and all the people believed in the Lord of the boy. So the king ordered trenches to be dug and fires to be lit in them to kill whoever did not recant their religion, until a woman came with a child and hesitated to fall into the fire. The child said to her: "O mother, be patient, for you are upon the truth."
