The worshiper is required to keep children from disturbing and distracting him, so that he is not preoccupied with them. However, if he prays while there is a disturbance, his prayer is valid. If a child or anyone else passes in front of him, he should repel him, because their passing diminishes the reward of the prayer. The child's playful approach and coming to the worshiper may be from Satan, as stated in the Hadith: "If any of you prays, he should not let anyone pass in front of him, and he should repel him as much as he can. If he insists, then let him fight him, for he is a devil."
