Which is better at this time: Jihad for the sake of Allah, or seeking knowledge, benefiting people, and removing ignorance? And what is the ruling on Jihad for one who did not seek permission from his parents before going out for Jihad?

Seeking knowledge for religious understanding takes precedence over Jihad. It is an obligation upon every Muslim. As for lawful Jihad, it is a recommended act and a collective obligation (fard kifayah). However, if an enemy attacks Muslim lands, Jihad becomes obligatory upon everyone, including women, to repel the evil of the enemy. As for offensive Jihad (Jihad al-talab), it is a collective obligation (fard kifayah) upon men.
