What is the ruling on the assertion of the sun's immobility and the Earth's rotation around it?

A distinction must be made between definitive (qaṭ'ī) and probabilistic (ẓannī) implications in legal texts, and between scientific theories and scientific facts. The issue of the Earth's and Sun's rotation and their relative movements to each other are scientific theories that involve debate and are not established scientific facts. One cannot definitively assert the correctness or incorrectness of the statement that the Earth revolves around the Sun, nor is it correct to definitively claim that the Quran supports or opposes this statement. However, affirming movement for both the Sun and the Earth is correct, and denying movement for the Sun entirely is an error, due to Allah’s saying: "It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day; and each, in an orbit, is swimming." (Quran 36:40) and His saying: "And He is the one who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all in an orbit are swimming." (Quran 21:33).
