The answer

A menstruating woman is prohibited from touching the , but not from reciting the Quran from memory. Listening to the Quran is encouraged, but it does not substitute for its recitation, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, loved to hear the Quran from others. Mercy is swifter to reach the listener of the Quran, due to Allah's saying: "And when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy." Abandoning the Quran is blameworthy, due to Allah's saying: "And the Messenger will say, 'O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Quran as [a thing] abandoned,' " and there is no evidence to limit abandonment to three days.
