What should a wife do if bleeding or discharge continues after the seventh day of her usual menstrual cycle? If blood, along with any yellow or murky discharge, exceeds fifteen days, then the woman is considered to be experiencing istihadah (non-menstrual vaginal bleeding). She must observe her previous regular period if she knows it, and consider anything beyond that as istihadah. If she does not have a known regular period, she should observe the days during which menstrual blood can be distinguished by its color, smell, and accompanying pain, and consider anything beyond that as istihadah. Her prayers and fasting performed during the days of istihadah are valid, and she is not required to make up any fasts.
