It is permissible to sleep before the time for Jumu'ah prayer begins, even if it is highly probable that sleep will extend beyond that time, because the religious obligation has not yet become binding. This is indicated by the hadith of the woman who criticized her husband for sleeping until sunrise, where the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you wake up, pray." However, one should employ means that aid in waking up for prayer.
