Is it sunnah to be persistent in supplication three times or more?
It was reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that it is recommended to repeat supplications three times, which was the prevalent practice in his guidance. It was also reported that he supplicated five times, as in the hadith of his blessing upon the horses and men of Ahmas. And it was reported seven times in seeking refuge from the Fire and asking for Paradise, and in supplicating for the sick. So the Sunnah in repeating supplications is three times, and there is no harm in increasing or limiting it to a single time.
