How can Rajab be cultivated, Sha'ban watered, and Ramadan harvested?

The month of Rajab is the key to the months of goodness, a month for planting, and a month for the year's foliage. The month of Sha’ban is the month for watering the plants and the days for the tree to branch out. Ramadan is the month for harvesting the plants and the days for picking the fruits. It has been reported that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to recite a supplication upon the arrival of Rajab: "O Allah, bless us in Rajab and Sha’ban, and bless us in Ramadan." It is therefore appropriate to begin planting good deeds and righteous work in Rajab, and to nurture them in Sha’ban, in preparation for Ramadan.
