Why were we commanded to kill the gecko, even though no soul bears the burden of another, and does the command to kill include both house geckos and wild geckos?

The Prophet commanded the killing of geckos because they are harmful, damaging, and corrupt creatures. They blew fire on Abraham (peace be upon him), spoil food, spit poison, and transmit diseases. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged their killing and promised a reward for doing so.
