Are accepted gifts from a student's guardian, as well as simple gifts from students such as pens and sweets, considered gifts to employees, and what should be done with them after years of use?

Giving gifts to teachers is subject to two principles: the permissibility of exchanging gifts, and the prohibition of gifts to employees. Prohibited gifts are those intended to curry favor with the teacher to give a student preferential treatment, or those whose acceptance leads to favoritism towards a student. Therefore, it is not permissible to accept a gift during the period of study if there has been no prior exchange of gifts, and it must be returned or disposed of. As for a gift given after the completion of studies, or a gift that was customarily exchanged before, there is no harm in it as long as it is not for an ill purpose.
