Is a husband entitled to remind his wife that her personal allowance is his money and not hers?

The money a husband pays his wife as private maintenance becomes her property the moment she takes possession of it, and she is free to dispose of it as she wishes. The husband should not remind her that the money is his, lest it be considered a favor that negates the reward and constitutes ill-treatment, and in accordance with His Almighty’s saying: "And live with them in kindness."
