To what extent is the hadith that states: "O gathering of Muslims, fear zina (fornication/adultery), for indeed it contains six characteristics; three in this world and three in the Hereafter. As for those in this world: the disappearance of the splendor of the face, the shortening of life, and perpetual poverty. And as for those in the Hereafter: the wrath of Allah, may He be blessed and exalted, an evil reckoning, and punishment by the Fire" authentic? And in which authentic collection is it found, and what is its chain of transmission?

This narration is not in the Two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim), nor has it been found in the major collections of Sunnah. Al-Qurtubi mentioned it on the authority of Hudhayfah without an ‫isnād (chain of narration), and Al-Albani included it in Al-Silsilah Al-Da‘ifah (The Chain of Weak Narrations), hence it is weak. Adultery is a great sin, its evil is widespread, and its consequences are dire.
