What should a man do who shortened the Maghrib prayer during his travels out of ignorance, and now knows that this is impermissible? Should he only repeat the Maghrib prayers, when he does not know how many journeys he has undertaken?

The Maghrib prayer is not to be shortened during travel, by agreement of the Muslims. Whoever shortens it out of ignorance must repent. Scholars differed regarding the obligation to repeat it: some said it is not obligatory because he is excused by his ignorance, while others made repetition obligatory. The more apparent opinion is that there is no repetition for the ignorant, but if these prayers are made up as a precaution and to avoid disagreement, it is good and clears one's conscience.
