Yellowish or brownish discharge is considered menses if it occurs during the accustomed period. If the bleeding stops and then returns within fifteen days, it is also considered menses. The period of purity that interrupts menstruation is a valid purity. If the duration of bleeding exceeds fifteen days, the woman becomes a mustahadah (experiencing prolonged vaginal bleeding not considered menstruation). She must take precautions and perform ablution for every prayer after its time has begun, and she can pray the obligatory prayers and as many supererogatory prayers as she wishes.
