The answer

There is no authentic text that specifies all the names of the prophets and messengers of the Children of Israel. However, the names of some of them are known from what is mentioned in the Qur’an or the authentic . Belief in them is required at two levels: a general belief in every prophet and messenger, and a detailed belief in those whose names we know, such as Noah, Abraham, and others, in accordance with His, the Almighty’s, saying: {Say, "We have believed in Allah and in what was revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants, and in what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him."} (Al-Baqarah: 136). It was narrated from Ibn Abbas that all the prophets were from the Children of Israel except ten: Noah, Hud, Lot, Salih, Shu'ayb, Abraham, Ishmael, Jacob, Jesus, and Muhammad. No prophet from the Children of Israel had two names except Jesus and Jacob.
