How can Ibn Hazm's statement that all the Companions are among the people of Paradise, based on Allah's saying: (And to each [of them] Allah has promised the best reward) and (Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has been decreed from Us - those are removed far from it), be reconciled with the Prophet's — peace and blessings be upon him — specific mention of certain Companions as being among the people of Paradise?

Whoever is definitively affirmed by sacred texts to be among the people of Paradise, we bear witness to that unequivocally, such as the ten promised Paradise, Bilal, the woman who used to have epileptic fits, and Ja'far ibn Abi Talib. As for the rest of the Companions who died upon faith, they are generally attested to Paradise, based on the Almighty's saying: "And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with excellence - Allah has approved of them and they have approved of Him and He has prepared for them Gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment" (Quran 9:100), and His saying: "Not equal among you are those who spent before the conquest [of Makkah] and fought [and those who did not]. Those are greater in degree than those who spent afterwards and fought. But to all has Allah promised the best [reward]. And Allah is Acquainted with what you do" (Quran 57:10). The difference is that the first is established by a definitive text, which is stronger in its indication. The entry of the general body of Companions into Paradise is based on the promise of reward, contingent upon the fulfillment of conditions and the absence of impediments. Thus, for anyone who neglected acts of obedience or committed forbidden deeds, there is fear for them unless Allah forgives them. Some of them may enter Hell for purification and then enter Paradise.
