The woman observing the iddah (waiting period) must do so in the marital home where she resided at the time of her husband's death, unless there is a valid excuse that permits her to move, such as the house being unsafe, or if she experiences extreme loneliness there due to the absence of a companion. The woman observing the iddah is permitted to leave her home during the day to attend to her needs, and at night only out of necessity.
