Which is better: for a wicked man to marry a religious woman, or a wicked woman because she is his equal?

Compatibility in marriage is considered for the man's sake, in relation to the woman and her guardians, but it is not considered for the woman's sake, in relation to the man. A Muslim should strive to choose a righteous woman, and marrying a righteous woman is better, so she can be an aid to him in repentance and uprightness. It is incumbent upon one who is engaged in wrongdoing to hasten to repent to Allah, conceal his sins, and strive for uprightness.
