How do we reach the truth?

Whoever desires guidance and salvation must adhere to what the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his noble Companions were upon, for they are the saved sect (Al-Firqah Al-Najiyah) whom the Messenger referred to in his saying: "Indeed, this nation will split into seventy-three sects: seventy-two are in the Fire, and one is in Paradise, and that is the Jama'ah (the main body)." And his saying: "They are those who are upon that which I and my Companions are upon today." So, you must seek out the People of the Sunnah and the Community (Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah), adhere to them, and flee from those with deviant beliefs and innovations. Among their characteristics are: venerating the Book and the Sunnah and resorting to them for judgment, venerating the legacy of the righteous predecessors and the Household of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his Companions, and giving precedence to Abu Bakr and Umar over all other Companions. Among the causes of steadfastness upon the truth is seeking beneficial knowledge that introduces you to Allah and His rights.
