Is the intention to leave the study of economics and switch to studying Sharia, in order to work in teaching, out of fear of the impermissibility of studying economics and of falling into the warning mentioned in the Hadith: "Whoever learns knowledge by which the Face of Allah is sought, but he does not learn it except to gain thereby some worldly benefit, will not find the scent of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection" – is this intention Islamically sound, knowing that the College of Sharia teaches Ash'ari creed and some man-made sciences?
Studying economics based on man-made law is not absolutely forbidden. Transferring to a College of Sharia with the goal of becoming a professor and earning money is not considered seeking knowledge for worldly gain, as long as the intention is not limited to that alone. As for the College's study of Ash'ari theology and some man-made law, this has been detailed in previous fatwas.
